Carving Pumpkins

I spent this past weekend at my friend's house.  We had a wonderful time together.  I sure miss them!  It was so good to see them.  Elijah's birthday is on Halloween so we had a birthday weekend for him.

This was the face she made after taking a bite of the pumpkin. Hilarious!

Elijah liked having happy birthday pumpkins

Sabrina threw leaves up in the air to make them laugh.  It worked, mostly.  Look at Estie!  So funny!

How cute are they?

They had to dress up for me since I wasn't gonna be there for trick-or-treating.

Nate's B-Day Party

Last night was so very special.  Karol, Nissa and I went down for Nate's birthday party.  There were about 30 people there.  Nate was surrounded by all of the people who love him.  I was so happy that I could be a part of his special day.  All of the kids surrounded Nate while he opened his presents.

Nate was really excited about a gift card.

Happy Birthday Natie!!

This sweet, wonderful, pure, fun, silly little boy is 4 today.  I'll never forget the first time I held him.  He was ten months old.  It was the first time Nate's family had been to Camp Daniel.  His parents were leading worship so I held him during chapel.  My heart melted. Completely.  I was hooked.  I walked away from that week knowing that I had to be doing full-time disability ministry and working with families and kids with disabilities.  I'll never forget that week.  It was transforming for many, including me.

This little boy has taught me so much about loving people and loving Jesus.  Nate has an amazing family.  I am so blessed to call them my friends, my family.  We have all grown and changed a lot in the past few years.  God is the one doing the change in our hearts, but Nate opened the door for so many things.  God is using him.  Nate reminds us about what is important.  God is using his entire family and it is so awesome to be a part of it.

Conveniently, the only family picture I have is one from camp where they are all dressed up. haha.

Portland

Last week I went to Portland, OR with my mom.  We had a great time with family.  We went mainly to see my grandma.  I'm so glad that God provided the money to go.

This is my cousin Angie and her little girl Merry.
My mom and I went downtown to the Saturday market.  All of the boothes are filled with things that people have made.  There were a lot of interesting people downtown.
This guy played these buckets like a drumset.  I could have listened to him all day.
This was a pretty little park that I liked
Mom standing next to this huge tree with growths.  How weird!!
We had a family dinner.  It was so good to see everyone.

One day mom and I took my grandma to Twin Rocks Camp.  It was a suprise.  We just told her we were going for a drive.  The camp is right on the coast and it was a beautiful drive.

My grandma went to camp as a kid in 1939 and 1940.  The camp has been around a long time.  The director, Ken Bebe, took us around for an hour.  There were still a couple of the same buildings even though they have been remodeled.  There were a few old pictures on the walls where my grandma recognized some of the people in them.
This was the dorm that they stayed in.
This is the chapel
We ate at the cheese factory for lunch.  Don't worrry, I didn't eat any cheese.
Then I took some pictures of the coast.  I got my ocean fix for about ten minutes.  I could have stayed here all day!
The Twin Rocks (that the camp is named after.)

Can you see all of those birds on the edge of the rock?
A cool bridge
There were a lot of fisherman out even though it was cold and raining
