JoJo

JoJo. This was her second summer at Camp Daniel. I remember watching her with her camper last summer. She went all out. She had a gift with people with disabilities. She stood out by the way she loved God and loved people. She has come up to camp a couple of times during the year to visit and it has been so special to connect with her. She is beautiful inside and out. She has this gift of bringing people together. When I think of JoJo, I think of this story I heard a while back.

There was this gal who went to France to be a missionary. There had been some other missionaries there that had little success. It is really hard to minister in that culture. She didn’t know the language or the culture, but she was willing. She said yes. Now, there was this prostitute that passed her on the street one day and followed her home because she sensed something different about this gal. The prostitute wanted what the missionary had. She was attracted to the love of Jesus flowing out of this woman. There were many who came to know Christ because of this missionary.

We don’t have to have it all together. I know this gal didn’t. We come up with all of these excuses like, if I do this and this, then I will be ready. I need to ‘be prepared’ to do what God wants. This gal didn’t know the language or the culture, two of the most important things, but that didn’t matter. The love of Jesus conquers all. She put God first and He did the rest.

JoJo is a leader. I watched her love on people. They are drawn to the love of Jesus flowing from her. She seems to have time for everybody. She brings out the best in people. I want to be more like that. God has such great plans for JoJo and I am excited to watch them unfold. I am blessed to call her my friend.
