Cookie Bake and Caroling

Last Sunday, Jen and I stayed after church to have a cookie bake with some of the ladies from The Able Church. We had a lot of fun and made lots of yummy goodies. (Judy made some fun aprons for the ladies to wear. Thanks Judy!) That Tuesday, we went to a nursing home in Green Bay and we sang some Christmas carols for them. The folks at the home really enjoyed it and we passed out goodies we made for them. It was another great opportunity for our folks at The Able Church to have a chance to love and serve others during the Christmas season.

What Every Photographer Wants for Christmas

That's right, folks! It's a lens for my camera! Actually, it's a coffee mug, but let me tell you the whole story. A couple of weeks ago, my friends Sabrina and Micah gave me a gift.
The kids were really excited to give me my present, even though they had no idea what it was. I had them help me open my present.
When I opened the box and saw what was inside, I was pretty surprised. At first, I thought it was a lens for my camera.
Here I am thinking, "Did they really get me a lens? This feels pretty light for a lens. It might be a different brand." I really thought they had gotten me a lens. Sabrina finally told me that it wasn't a lens and I eventually figured out that it was a coffee mug.
It took me like five minutes to get the thing open. I tried opening it like a lens and it didn't work. That thing is deceiving! It even zooms in and out. It was a cruel, funny joke. At least I got an awesome mug out of it.
Here I am with my new lens! (I mean coffee mug)
The funniest part about the whole thing was that Sabrina found this little dino in the box. She thought that maybe a kid had dropped their toy in there while a parent was packaging up the box. She was reading the receipt later and saw this. I don't know if you can read it, but if you look closely, you can see that it says: This box contains 1 coffee mug and 1 Rawrrrrrr! dino freebie! Who does that? Who writes free stuff on a receipt? I'm sure that a lot of people do. It was just kinda funny. I had to share my stupid moment with all of you because it was just too good to keep to myself.

Nate and Lambchop

I spent a few hours with this little man yesterday. He was feeling a little under the weather, but he was still in a good enough mood to play. I laughed when he pulled lambchop out of his toy bin. I loved watching 'Lambchop and friends' when I was little.

A Very Special Christmas Story

Tonight we had the Christmas service at The Able Church, and it was beautiful! Actually, it was breathtaking! We have this tradition at The Able Church. Our members dress up and act out the Christmas story. There is something that is so raw and humbling. You feel like you were there, on that night, so long ago. Peter and Darlene were Mary and Joseph. There couldn't be anyone more perfect for the part. As Mary laid Jesus ever so gently in the manger, the shepherds came in to see baby Jesus. Then the angels sang their praises. Sarah sang a special song, "Mary Did You Know." The song was beautiful and Sarah is beautiful. She makes me cry every time! The wise men came in and humbly placed their gifts at the feet of Jesus. We also had a couple of musical guests tonight. Sarah's brother and his wife are visiting from California. Ryan and Hayley lead us in Christmas and worship songs and it truly made the night complete. God's spirit was overflowing throughout the service.

Sarah sang "Mary Did You Know" and it was the most beautiful thing that Jesus has ever heard!Oh sweet Sarah! I love her! She has such a special family that loves her and are so proud of her. I am honored to know them.

Oh Elijah! The moments are more beautiful each time I witness them. My heart burst with love. I was overwhelmed. I cried as this boy was once again, so lovingly received. The awesome thing is that Ryan and Hayley are two people who understand what this ministry is all about. They came last year to The Able Church and it was a life-changing event for them. Elijah doesn't go up there for the attention. He is drawn, time and time again, to the Spirit of Jesus that is so overwhelmingly in that place. He knows the words to many of the songs we sing, and he sincerely worships Jesus. I watch him worship while my heart is overwhelmed with many emotions that I cannot describe. Once again, God ministered through this little boy. I talked to Hayley afterward and she said that it made her night when Elijah came up and sang with her. I'm sure that it is a night that she will remember for many years to come.
"You're altogether lovely, all together worthy, all together wonderful to me!"
