Able in Action

There are some people who think that people with disabilities have nothing to offer to the body of Christ. There are others who think that people with disabilities can't do anything for themselves. The second statement is worthy of a whole other post. Here is a picture to prove all those people wrong. We call this Able in Action. We do service projects like raking, or serving food. People with disabilities are a vital part of the body of Christ. They are no different from you or me.

We have members at The Able Church who are greeters, prayer warriors, encourager, worship leaders, teachers, and preachers. We use Tuesday Family Night for different things. Last spring, we wrote encouraging letters to people in the church and we would take time to pray for those people. This week we raked leaves for an elderly woman and then we had dinner with her. It was a great time of service and fellowship. I'm curious if any of those people who make statements about people with disabilities are doing anything for Christ. I'm not trying to say that we are better than them. I'm just sayin' that we, at The Able Church, are just trying to do all that God has called us to do. It is actually quite simple, love God and love people. When we are faced with an opportunity, we must step into it. Some members from The Able Church are helping someone move this afternoon. All of us, (emphasis on ALL), can love and serve. Even in the practical things.
